CODISO

 

Tanzania Initiative for Achievement (CODISO) is an NGO with an affiliation to faith based Organization here called “Moravian Church of Tanzania Southern West Province” (MCT-SWP), established in Mbeya city council, Mbeya Region. 

The CODISO endured from an experienced and strong MCT-SWP (a faith based Organization), grounded for more than 60 years with deliberating community impacts in both (service delivery and community behavior change programs). 

The raise of CODISO emanated from the high demand of disability Inclusion and rehabilitation Services in Southern Highland regions (Mbeya city, Songwe, Njombe, Ruvuma and Iringa regions), the updated effects of Legal Aid Act of 2017 and its regulation of 2018, influenced at high the registration of CODISO, due to the compromise of (which obligated for any Organization to run disability Inclusion and rehabilitation Services must have an NGO registration status, then LAP registration status). Without losses of primary motives for faith based registration and compromise the Organization business, it was agreed to form CODISO.

The mission of the organization is to develop endeavors and empower communities to overcome poverty, ignorance, diseases, providing legal services and advocates for human rights by using the available opportunities to achieve sustainable holistic development in the society.

Strategic plan earmarks the beginning of a five years journey (2021 – 2025) in the following community strategic domain impacts:

• To improve the well-being and protection of people with disability, women and children rights through enhancing their understanding of their basic fundamental rights as well as the national laws protecting their rights and economic. 
• To provide legal aid and counseling. 
• To promote and protect community health and providing health services to vulnerable groups of women and children including HIV/AIDS - health education and promotion. 
• To improve the livelihood of community and household promoting self-reliance and accelerate achievement and sustainable solution.  
• To empower and educate community on protection and conservation of environment, water, improving sanitation and hygiene. 
• To improve and establish quality and affordable education services to the community. 
• To improve and promote good governance and human rights practices.  

CODISO has included various precaution actions in order to make successful of the strategic plan implementation; such as issues related to challenges in funding mobilization, wide geographical coverage of service’s demands,   regime change, persistence of pandemics and climate change issues, it is still evident that a lot need to be done alongside these components. To fit the circumstance, CODISO has strategically positioned towards the positive contribution on achieving of the important thematic pillars in 2021 -2025.
